Villa Cafaggiolo is an ancient farmhouse only 7,5 miles east of Florence (20 minutes driving), located in the Chianti countryside, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. It is at the top of a hill so you can enjoy a great view of the valley.
The Villa is composed of 3 luxury apartments, each a different size and shape and each completely independent of the others. Each one has its own private entrance as well as its own private garden.
The apartments are tastefully furnished with antique furniture and decorated with paintings and ceramics. Terracotta floors, beamed ceilings, and stone walls are everywhere. We (the Owners) used to live in these apartments ourselves, so they have a genuine Tuscan homelike feeling.
Access to the Villa is by private road. You will never hear the sounds of traffic (day or night) during your stay. Our guests love falling asleep to the sounds of nature.
All the land around Villa Cafaggiolo is completely fenced (2.5 acres); your children will be safe in any part of the estate.
There is a private swimming pool on the estate and a parking for your cars.
The village of Pontassieve is 1,5 miles from the Villa. There you’ll find any of the shops, restaurants, supermarkets, banks and a Railroad Station with trains running frequently to Florence.
The Villa is located close to major highways. Approx. driving times from Cafaggiolo:
20 minutes: Florence and Fiesole – 1 hour: San Gimignano, Siena, Lucca
1.5 hours: Pisa, Assisi, Gubbio, Orvieto – 2.5 hours: Roma, Venezia, Cinque Terre.
In addition, for bargain hunters, the Gucci, Ferragamo, Armani, Valentino, Tods, Pucci, Zegna, and other Outlets are just 15 minutes driving, from Villa Cafaggiolo.
Presently, we (the Owners) live on the same estate but in a separate Villa. This means you will have your privacy but, at the same time, we’ll always be available to solve any problems or to offer suggestions.
Villa Cafaggiolo is very close to Florence; just 7/8 miles east, that means 15/20 minutes by car.
A large and comfortable road will lead you, through the countryside, along the Arno river (surrounded by hills, vineyards, castles, farmhouses and old churches), from the bustle of the City to the tranquility of the Chianti lands.
To have an idea about where the Villa is, take a map of Tuscany, look for Florence, than look for Pontassieve (on the east side); now ideally cross the river and you’ll find Rosano. Villa Cafaggiolo is settled top on a hill around, just 1 miles away.
This location is ideal for those wishing to visit Florence and all its glories, while at the same time experiencing the quiet and tranquility of a rural setting away from the noise of the city.

The town of Pontassieve is less than 2 miles from the Villa. It is an attractive medieval village where you will find many shops, banks, markets, several very good restaurants, and a shopping center. There is frequent train service to the center of Florence. The train takes about 20 minutes and is an easy way to travel for those who do not wish to take their car into the city. It is easy to park at or close to the Pontassieve Station.
Within few miles from Villa Cafaggiolo there are many historic places to visit:
- the 11th century Benedictine monastery at Rosano
- the Vallombrosa Abbey with its surrounding forests
- the Medieval Castle at Nipozzano
- the Etruscan settlement of Fiesole with its unforgettable views of Florence
- the Villa Poggio Reale and its Wine Museum at Rufina
The Villa is a short distance from the most famous towns of Tuscany: 20-50 miles from Siena, Greve-in-Chianti, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Volterra, Vinci, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, and the beaches at Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi.
In addition, fashion bargain hunters will find the Outlets of Gucci, Ferragamo, Armani, Valentino, Prada, Zegna, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana, Tod’s just 7 miles away, in the town of Rignano sull’Arno.
