The “Antico Borgo S. Lorenzo” sets in the heart in Tuscany, Chianti, among Florence (40 Kms) and Siena – Sienna (25km), with buildings typical of the Middle Ages and of the Renaissance, with places marvelous and suggestive panoramic foreshortenings, dominate the valley of the river Elsa.
The ancient village, belonged to the family Tolomei, it is situated on the layout of the “Via Francigena” among corn’s fields, wheat and sunflowers and hills of vineyards and uliveti, among Colle di Val d’Elsa (city of the crystal) and Poggibonsi (Sienna).
It was for this that in 1200ad the Borgo was a resting lodge for many merchants and pilgrims who came from the North to travel to Rome.

Situated in the heart of the Borgo is the Church of San Lorenzo. This ancient roman church dates back to the 10th century and holds a beautiful 15th century fresco of Pier Francesco Fiorentino. The church is historically noted for the first meeting between San Francesco and San Lucchese which took place in the year 1210ad. An exceptional discovery was made here at Antico Borgo San Lorenzo in 1963, when digging the foundations to construct a new building. Exquisite silver goblets fashioned by the Gotis, were unearthed (5th century). This treasure represents one of the more precious antique findings ever found from the era of Gotis. These “Galognano” treasures are jealously kept in the museum of History in Colle val d’Elsa and can be viewed when visiting the museum. In a veil of mystery, which surrounds the Borgo, we can experience guaranteed tranquillity and quiet sojourn immersed in nature and an atmosphere of antiquity.

The village is constituted by varied buildings that entertain the apartments and the structures for the guests: The “Canonica”, The “Rose” House, The “Ginestra” House, The “Albicocco” House, The “Granaio” Building, The Reception. Crisp white “pizzo” (broderie anglaise) curtains, pretty hand-painted tiles, elegant lamps, painted wrought iron bedsteads, handsome old country -stile furniture, terracotta floors and beamed ceilings give the apartments their traditional Tuscan feel. All the holiday apartments are equipped with kitchen utensils and automatic dishwashers, satellite-TV and separate heating units.

Alloro apartment for 2 people:The apartment, approx. 70 m², is on the ground floor and it’s the base of the ancient tower. Take three steps up, leading you into the bathroom with shower and bath. There is also a storeroom opposite. Outside there is loggia with garden furniture.

Cipresso apartment for 5 people
The apartment, approximately 100 m², is on the 1° floor, which is accessible by stairs. Enter into a wide living room with large dining table a beautiful big ancient fireplace. On the same of the floor there is the kitchen, a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with hydro massage. There is a lovely wooden Staircase extending from the living room to the 2° floor. The 2nd floor has a big bedroom with a double and a single bed (sleeps up to three people). Outdoor space with garden furniture is on the ground level at the front of the apartment entrance.

Fico apartment for 4 people
The apartment, approximately 90 m², is situated on the ground floor of the Canonica, and it has the view of River Elsa valley. Enter into a large, spacious, living room with sofas and TV, then into the kitchen with a balcony a hallway leading to the sleeping area made up of a double bed bedroom, a twin bedroom. Next to the twin room there is blue ceramic bathroom with a bath. To the left of the apartment entrance there is a shaded area with outdoor furniture. Close to the Canonica there are common facilities such as the ancient wood fine pizza oven, a barbecue panoramic terrace with tables, deck chairs and sun umbrellas.

Ginestra apartment for up to 4 people
The apartment was originally one of the barns of the Borgo. It has a large living room with dining table and kitchen, a twin bedroom and double bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. There is a lovely private patio with garden furniture under some trees.

Albicocco apartment for up 2 people
This independent apartment is approx. 40 m²., is constituted by a living-dining room with cooking corner, a double-room and a bath with shower. Outside the front of the entrance there is a small terrace, and another space with garden furniture. Air-conditioning.

Granaio apartment for 2 people
Situated on ground level, with two floors, approx. 45 m². On the ground floor there is a living-dining room with blue ceramic tiled kitchen. The first floor is accessible by a rather steep wooden staircase. Here there is a double bedroom and a bathroom with a bath. Outside there is a patio with garden furniture. Air-conditioning.
